Is Gilmore Girls the Ultimate Fall Show?

Gilmore Girls is famous for its aesthetic fall vibes and small-town charm, but is it the ultimate fall show? The show is centered around a mother and daughter in a small town named Stars Hollow. The mother, Lorelai Gilmore, played by Lauren Graham is an upbeat talkative coffee addict, providing a constant comical charm to the show with her quick and witty remarks.

Her daughter, played by Alexis Bledel, is also named Lorelai Gilmore but goes by Rory. Rory is a star student achieving amazing grades at her small school in Stars Hollow. Lorelai was a teen mother as she got pregnant with Rory at sixteen, the age Rory is when the show starts.

Lorelai’s parents, Richard and Emily, are polished and wealthy, enjoying their uptight lifestyle. When their rebellious, outspoken daughter got pregnant at sixteen, they were outraged, causing Lorelai to run away to live in Stars Hollow to raise Rory.

The show starts with Lorelai going to her parents for money to pay for Rory’s new private school, Chilton, but in order to get the money, Lorelai needs to have dinner at her parents’ house with Rory every Friday night. The show continues to follow Rory and Lorelai for seven sessions as they go through their day-to-day lives with new relationships, town issues, and drama.

But we still do not know if Gilmore Girls is the ultimate fall show. It depends on what you’re looking for. The first few seasons are perfect for a teen’s dream fall show. Rory is working towards getting into Harvard, providing teens with a good role model. The colors, style, and filming style scream fall. All characters wear cute sweaters and jeans. They never leave the house without a cute hairstyle. The whole show has an orange tint to it, filling the scenes with warm autumn tones.

But, about three or four seasons into the show, the drama takes over, sacrificing the fall vibes for the plot. Rory drops out of college and moves in with her grandparents while Lorelai handles her break up with Luke, the owner of her favorite diner. The cheery dialogue is swapped out for deep, meaningful conversations that touch on serious issues.

But does this change hurt the show? No, because Gilmore Girls is a seven-season series, if you watch it at a consistent pace, by the time you get to season four, fall will be over. Then, Gilmore Girls can take on a new vibe, winter. Who doesn’t want to curl up in bed and watch crazy drama unfold while stuck inside in the cold? So, is Gilmore Girls still the ultimate fall show? Yes, it is; I would even say it’s a great winter show. It perfectly transitions from warm fall to cold winter.
